BASKETBALL SCHEDULE

TSSAA max number of games is 20.

All games must be turned in to the MSCIAA and reflected on the MSCIAA master schedule available at www.sciaa.org.

To avoid scheduling conflicts and No Shows, first:

  1. Check Online- Make sure the games you have on your schedule match what’s on the MSCIAA website (sciaa.org). Check your schedule online regularly in the event of changes.
  2. Confirm Officials- Check Arbiter (if you have access) to ensure there are officials scheduled. The home team should get a call by 12 on the day of the game. If no official has called- contact the assigning agent.
  3. Contact Opponent- Reach out to your opponent a few days before the game and also on game day to confirm. This avoids forfeits, fines, and forgetting.

If after 1, 2, and 3 you still have conflicts, then
4. Call the Office- If there are still issues after you’ve done the first three, then contact your sport’s coordinator at the MSCIAA office for assistance. Also, be sure to include MSCIAA on all communication regarding cancellations, reschedules, postponements, or forfeits.

TICKET PRICE

$5.00 Max

Pre-sale tickets cannot be sold by the visiting team.

TIME OF GAME

Varsity girls will begin at 5:30pm. Varsity boys will begin at 6:45pm.

All games will start at the designated time unless otherwise indicated in writing through the MSCIAA. To make a game change the host team must notify the MSCIAA, MSCS security, and the assigning official three days prior to the contest.

INCLEMENT WEATHER and GAME CHANGES

If a scheduled game is canceled due to schools closing, the game will be rescheduled by the MSCIAA office. If schools are closed on the day of a meeting, the meeting will be rescheduled by the MSCIAA office.

To make a game change for necessary reasons only, (dates and/or start times) contact the MSCIAA office at minimum 3 days prior to the scheduled event. If a school must cancel a game or games due to Covid-19 positive tests or contact tracing, contact the MSCIAA coordinator Priscilla Anderson Jeffries and the opposing school immediately. If this occurs, make every effort to reschedule the games. If games canceled due to Covid-19 cannot be rescheduled, the games will be ruled as a no-contest.

SECURITY PERSONNEL

Security personnel will be assigned to home MSCS middle school regular season contests, except tournaments/classics games. If you need security for additional contests, please call 416-5300.

GAME ADMINISTRATOR

A game administrator who is not coaching in the game should be in attendance and accessible at all games. Ideally the game administrator should be a principal, assistant principal, or athletic director, but may be another appointee by the principal. Schools are responsible for the conduct of their own fans and students at every athletic contest, regardless of where it may be held.

SCORING AND TIMING

Home teams must provide responsible adults to oversee scoring and timing at each scheduled game.

PLEASE NOTE: Middle Schools not providing responsible adults for scoring and timing will FORFEIT the game and will not be reimbursed for paying the officials.

ASSIGNING OFFICIALS FEES- The officials should call the home school’s financial secretary by 12 noon on the day of the game. If they fail to do so, please call the assigning agent immediately! Schools may also check Arbiter for official assignments.

Championship Tie Break Procedure

From the MSCIAA Constitution and Bylaws

103.2 Tie Breaking Procedure

a. Head-to-Head competition in league play. If teams have played each other during the season, the outcome of these games will resolve the tie.

b. If a tie remains after (a), the tiebreaker will be determined by how teams have done against the next highest seeded teams in their respective league: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc.

c. If the tie remains after (a) and (b), the overall win-loss record against teams within that classification will be used to break the tie. This only includes games played in your classification with member teams of TSSAA.

d. If the tie remains after (a), (b), and (c), the best overall record will be used to break the tie. The best overall record includes games and tournaments with all teams associated with the National

Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS). Scheduled games must be on an Official MSCIAA schedule to count for championship purposes.

e. If a tie remains, a coin will be tossed. A draw will be used to determine who will call the coin toss.
